Allumeria Trees: Oak, Birch, Maple, Pine and Palm
The five woods
| Wood | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Oak | Forest | The default. Logs, thick logs, planks, saplings. |
| Birch | Forest | Same set. 0.15.1 fixed a naming inconsistency with Birch Leaves. |
| Maple | Forest | Same set; the red canopies in autumnal forest. |
| Pine | Snow biome | Added in 0.15: logs, thick logs, planks, leaves, saplings. |
| Palm | Desert | Added in 0.15: logs, leaves, saplings, planks — and 0.15.1 added the Thick Palm Log and fixed palm planks being uncraftable. |
Every wood follows the same pattern: chop a tree for logs, craft logs into planks, and planks into everything else. Thick logs are the trunk-core variant, and 0.15 made logs connect to each other horizontally, which matters if you build with them exposed.
There is no spruce
If you searched for Allumeria spruce or spruce seeds: it does not exist here. The conifer in Allumeria is pine, and it grows in the snow biome. The confusion is understandable — spruce is the conifer in a different block game — but no in-game item, recipe or wiki entry uses that name.
Related: Allumeria uses saplings, not tree seeds. Every tree type has its own sapling (oak, birch, maple, pine, palm), and they were rebalanced during alpha — sapling drop chance went from 25% down to 10% back in 0.5.1. Crop seeds are a separate system entirely; those are on the farming page.
Growing trees on purpose
Plant a sapling and wait. Two old bugs are worth knowing about because they show up in old threads: saplings not growing at all (fixed in 0.7.0) and lighting not being recalculated for grown trees (also fixed). Neither is current.
For landscaping rather than forestry, 0.15 added grass seeds that spread grass, and made the Watering Can grow flowers and tall grass when used on grass blocks — the can is always full, so there is no water logistics involved.
Which wood to build with
Mechanically they are interchangeable: the difference is colour, and colour stopped mattering the day the Paint Roller arrived, since it recolours any block with no restrictions. What is worth choosing deliberately is what the room is made of once NPCs are involved — the Comfort check reads the blocks in a room, and the Builder NPC sells wallpaper, bookshelves and stone paths specifically to raise it. See the NPC and housing guide and the building guide.
