Allumeria Dungeons: Forest, Snow and Desert Layouts and Keys

What a dungeon is here

Dungeons are randomly generated structures holding monsters, loot chests, and the item that summons that biome’s boss. Every world generates multiple forest dungeons; the snow and desert dungeons are tied to their biomes. They are also where most exclusive gear comes from — chests, not crafting.

Forest Dungeon

Added back in Alpha 0.5.0, it generates in the Forest as a green tower embedded in the ground with a hole down the middle and side entrances leading down. You descend through holes and ladders.

  • Entry gate: a Forest Key unlocks the entrance. Since patch 0.15.3, Forest Keys do not drop at all until you have defeated the Forest Spirit — the older 20% drop from forest enemies is gone, so the intended route is now boss first, dungeon second.
  • Chests: Iron Chests and many Crates throughout, plus a single Forest Chest at the end.
  • The Forest Chest always contains an Ominous Deer Skull (the Forest Spirit summon) and the Forest Pickaxe, which breaks through harder rock — the “Picking Boogers” achievement.
  • Grates: some loot sits behind forest dungeon grates that you can only mine after completing a dungeon, so a first pass will leave chests behind on purpose.
  • 0.15 change: undergrowth and forest dungeon enemies now drop thorns, and Forest Ingots are crafted with thorns instead of gold.

Snow Dungeon

Introduced in Alpha 0.9.0, it is a sprawling labyrinth under the snow biome — sometimes a piece pokes above the surface, which makes finding it trivial; otherwise you are digging. Inside there are massive staircases, tunnels, lava parkour sections, and an arena for the boss fight.

  • Exclusive loot: Arctic Blade (24 damage, slows on hit), Frosted Boomerang, Big Snowballs, the big top hat, Snowman painting, Ice Chests, Jet Boots and Gecko Gloves.
  • Freezing: standing in the snow dungeon applies Freezing, which patch 0.15.1 raised to 30 damage every two seconds. The Frozen Heart trinket is effectively required equipment.
  • 0.15.1 fix worth knowing: snow crates could be mined early, skipping progression. That is patched — if a guide tells you to grab snow crates before the dungeon, it is out of date.

Desert Dungeon

New in Early Access 0.15, and the most structured of the three: a large tower in the middle of the desert with multiple floors. Its parts, as listed in the patch notes:

  • Desert dungeon lock, opened with a desert dungeon key — and key parts, so the key itself is assembled rather than found. Using the key on the door is the “Lazy Progression Gating 101” achievement, a title the developer chose knowingly.
  • Spawners that produce enemies whenever you are above their Y level within a radius. You shut one down with the purple fire extinguisher and can relight it with the purple fire starter. Extinguishing the altar causes part of the ceiling to collapse — that is intended, not a bug.
  • Unstable desert dungeon bricks, platforms, torches, grates, chests, and the summoner for the Desert Worm in the final area.

Desert hazards outside the dungeon are their own problem: quicksand, surface lava pockets, tumbleweeds that roll at you, mummies, desert ghosts and a flying poison bulb.

Order of operations

  1. Forest dungeon located, but Forest Spirit summoned and killed first (0.15.3 gating).
  2. Forest pickaxe and forest gear → snow biome.
  3. Frozen Heart before the Snow Dungeon → Snow Spirit → ice pickaxe.
  4. Ice pickaxe mines palladium → desert dungeon key parts → summoner → Desert Worm.

The progression guide expands that chain with the ore and armour tiers that sit between each step.
