Allumeria Vertical Travel: Elevators, Gliders and Jet Boots

There is no elevator block

If you are searching for an Allumeria elevator, the honest answer first: there is no elevator item or block in Early Access 0.15. The game solves vertical movement with trinkets and terrain instead, and one of the achievements — “I Go Up and I Go Down: Discover a new form of vertical movement” — is the game telling you that finding those is part of progression.

Going up

  • Jet Boots — “allows the player to boost into the air”. Snow Dungeon loot. This is the closest thing to an elevator: hold the boost and you climb. The in-game Adventure Guide entry warns you to make sure you can get back down without going splat, which is fair.
  • Spring Boots — increase jump height to 2 metres. Cheap, always useful, no charge to manage.
  • Gecko Gloves — climb up surfaces. Also Snow Dungeon loot, and the one that removes most of the reason to pillar-jump while building.
  • Ladders — placeable, and the standard fixture in the forest dungeon’s own shafts. Patch 0.15.1 fixed ladders having a stone material instead of wood, so they mine properly now.
  • Potion of Flight — 60 seconds of short flight bursts. Situational, but it is the only true flight the game offers without cheats.

Coming down

  • Paraglider — glide slowly and mitigate fall damage. The first one you will get.
  • Upgraded glider — the “Falling with Style” achievement is discovering it.
  • Desert Glider — added in 0.15, glides faster rather than slower.

Fall damage is real and, as of 0.15.0, finally works in multiplayer too — so a co-op partner who never took fall damage before is not remembering wrong.

Going sideways

Minecarts and rails. Place a minecart on a rail to ride it; both are craftable, and there is a /genrail command that generates a section of rail at the block you are looking at if you are building a long line. Mineshafts generate naturally in normal caves, which is often where people find their first rails.

Movement changes in 0.15 worth knowing

The player movement system was reworked at Early Access: it feels broadly the same but with more inertia and resistance. Sneaking is now on by default rather than being a trinket-only ability — the Sneakers trinket still exists and still lets you “sneak around”, which now reads as an upgrade rather than the only option. Your hand also bobs when you walk, jump or fly, and there is a separate FOV slider for the viewmodel so wide aspect ratios stop stretching it.

And if you want to actually watch yourself glide: F5 toggles third person, with a setting for camera placement — front, back or freecam.

The cheat answer

If you are building and just want to move freely, Options → Cheats → Allow Noclip, then press X in game: space ascends, left shift descends. Full list on the commands page.
